Members may be aware that our esteemed member – Des Allen – has recently retired from his position as CEO of Tennis Ireland following 20 years of service
Commenting on his departure, Des said: “I have completed 20 years of service with Tennis Ireland and I feel this is the right time to move on. Tennis has been my passion for most of my life and I feel privileged to have been able to work in the sport at this level for this period. I am pleased to be leaving Tennis Ireland at a time when the numbers playing our sport are growing again. Equally, our National Academy is now producing a generation of players capable of competing in Grand Slam tennis. I am leaving Tennis Ireland as an organisation which is very solid in terms of financial performance and governance and I would like to wish the incoming CEO every success. For me it’s time to begin the third act!”
David Barber, Chairman of the Board of Tennis Ireland, added: “I would like to thank Des Allen for his long and distinguished service to Tennis Ireland.
“He has been a great champion for Tennis in Ireland and I know everyone would like to wish him the very best for the future.
Equally, we in Malahide LTCC congratulate Des on his tenure in Tennis Ireland and his significant contribution. We were also delighted to hear that Des was recognised with an award for Services to the game of Tennis at the annual ITF conference held in Zagreb, Croatia
